Smith clocked an official time of a mere 4.39 seconds in the 40-yard-dash on Thursday.

It is safe to say that with that performance, Nolan Smith was able to shatter some records. His unofficial time at first was 4.44 seconds, which was then later corrected by 0.05 as officials checked the tape and then changed it. He was tied for the fastest time with Auburn University’s Owen Pappoe for the fastest time on Thursday.

Cameras caught Nolan Smith smashing his floor on the ground after he learned that his time came out to be 4.44 seconds, as he had the training to reach the 4.3s mark for weeks. As he was interviewed by the NFL Network’s Stacey Dales, he told her he “wasn’t even running full speed.”

Nolan Smith was at the top of his position group in the vertical leap (41.50″) and the 10-yard split (1.52 seconds). With those numbers, Smith becomes the heaviest player in the NFL Combine’s history to have a sub 4.40 time in the dash and a vertical of over 40 inches.

How does Nolan Smith’s 40-yard dash time compare to other NFL players?

To put things into perspective as to how remarkable Nolan Smith was, Arizona Cardinals’ DeAndre Hopkins finished in at 4.57 seconds and the Buffalo Bills’ Stefon Diggs ran a 4.46-second 40-yard dash at the 2015 combine. And both of these men are All-Pro edge rushers who are currently playing in the NFL.
