Washington Commanders are actively looking for a quarterback which can lead the team to be a Super Bowl contender for the next decade. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Friday at the NFL Scouting Combine that Washington offered multiple first-round picks for star Russell Wilson.

However, the Seattle Seahawks has “no intentions” of trading the Super Bowl XLVIII champion as per head coach Pete Carroll. Wilson’s agent said the last offseason he would be willing to be traded to the Cowboys, Saints, Bears, and Raiders but it looks like the Seahawks aren’t ready to let Russell go just yet.

Washington is in desperate need of a quarterback this season. Despite having a talented roster, the Commanders lack talent in the sport’s most vital position. The organization has made calls throughout the league in hopes to find ‘the guy’ for their team. Head coach Rivera mentioned this week that the COmmanders are doing their homework on the available free agents and the upcoming draft prospects.

“This year we are being very proactive, looking, searching,” Rivera said Tuesday in Indianapolis. “We are trying to truly cover every base. … Every time you hear something, you’re checking into it. And so we’ve got to do our work. We’ve got to do our due diligence.”

Commanders to look elsewhere are Seahawks won’t trade Russell Wilson

Russell Wilson is widely regarded as one of the greatest dual-threat quarterbacks in NFL history. In his decade-long career in the NFL, the Seahawks’ signal-caller has been voted to the Pro-Bowl 9 times. No wonder why the Commanders were willing to give up multiple first-round picks for Wilson.

Taylor Heinicke was 7-8 as Washington’s starter last season when veteran QB Ryan Fitzpatrick suffered a season-ending injury in Week 1. Heinicke started 15 games for Washington, throwing 20 touchdowns against 15 interceptions. He completed 65% of his passes and threw for more than 3,400 yards but looks like the Commanders aren’t satisfied with Heinicke’s performance.

The Commanders are in desperate need to find a franchise QB given the controversies surrounding owner Dan Synder. The team’s reputation has been tarnished due to Synder’s sexual allegations and the organization’s hostile workplace environment. So, the Commanders wish to clear their name by winning the Super Bowl.

Russell Wilson could’ve been that guy to do it. But Seattle isn’t satisfied with just a couple of first-round picks! What more could they possibly want? As for the Commanders’ search for a QB, the team holds the No. 11 overall pick in the draft and will be looking to draft the best QB to come out of this year’s draft.
