The wide receiver position is one of the most demanding positions to play in the NFL. To create enough separation from the opposing defense to catch the football, have the jerk-stop movement to evade players, and have the speed to run fast enough to score that critical first down or a touchdown isn’t as easy as it seems.

Super Bowl LVI MVP, Cooper Kupp had the best season a receiver can hope for as he won the receiving triple crown — led the NFL in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. There are only a handful of wideouts that are the absolute best at what they do and this is precisely what Stefon Diggs told his brother Trevon before his induction into the league.

Stefon Diggs was confident Trevon would shine like a star in the NFL

Buffalo Bills star receiver Stefon Diggs considers himself and his brother Trevon Diggs to be the elite players of their position. Diggs said that the truly exceptional are a pretty small group. The 28-year-old wideout in a conversation with Sports Illustrated said he always knew his brother Trevon, would have no problems covering most of the receivers in the league except a handful.

“I told Tre this a while ago: ‘Bro, 70% of [NFL] receivers are gonna be easy to check,” Stefon said. “There’s only like seven to eight spicy receivers who can catch, can create separation, can run fast, can stop. . . .’ ” He further added that there are only three corners in the league “that really follow” No.1 receivers throughout the entire season –  Xavien Howard, Marshon Lattimore, and Trevon.

While Stefon Diggs had a great season in 2021, his previous season was his best. He led all NFL receivers in 2020 with 127 receptions and 1,535 receiving yards. In just his second year with the Dallas Cowboys, Trevon Diggs led the NFL in interceptions, with 11, which was the most interceptions anyone has had, across the NFL, since the 1981 season. But he did give away more than 1000 yards as a cornerback which didn’t look good.

So while Stefon thinks highly of himself and his brother, there is some truth to that. The big brother has proven himself time and again which earned him a four-year, $96 million contract extension with the Bills. Trevon has just started his career and we can’t judge his future in as an elite CB with just one season’s stats. Let’s see how he performs in the 2022 season and is he worthy of being the best CB in the league pushing aside Jalen Ramsey.
