It has been an exhilarating week for the Los Angeles Rams. At the beginning of the 2021 offseason, everyone in the league criticized the Rams for mortgaging their future for a quarterback who hasn’t shown any progress with his team for the past 12 years. As it turns out drafting Matthew Stafford was the best decision the Rams made since a year later they are Super Bowl LVI championship.
Alongside Stafford, Cooper Kupp has been detrimental for the Rams’ offense the entire season. He has shown everyone in the NFL that he is the guy you rely on when you need to make big plays to win games. Kupp converted a crucial 4th & 1 that further led to a touchdown and which sealed the Rams’ win.
“Great recognizes Great” – Davante Adams called out Cooper Kupp way back in 2020
Cooper Kupp had a legendary season this year. Kupp won the receiving tripe crown, Offensive Player of the Year, and Super Bowl MVP in the 2021 season. The only other player to do all these things is the greatest wide receiver in NFL history, Jerry Rice. He achieved all these accolades in his entire 21-year career while Kupp did it all in one season.
Davante Adams, WR for the Green Bay Packers who is widely recognized as the best wide receiver in the NFL currently knew about Cooper Kupp’s potential long before anyone in the league. Kupp had a stellar 11-catch, 145-yard performance against the Buccaneers in the 2020 season that caught the attention of Adams.
“Cooper Kupp is the most underrated receiver in the league,” Adams wrote on Twitter offering high praises to Kupp. He had been a reliable WR for the Rams the entire season and Davante Adams was very much impressed by Kupp. Kupp later quote-tweeted in reply: “Much love! That Tae Adams film study does wonders. But the guy 1-7 has my vote.”
From the looks of it, it appears that Adams was aware of Kupp’s greatness all along. It’s true that greatness recognizes greatness. Cooper Kupp will only continue to rise from this point and set countless records in his potentially Hall of Fame career.
