A few weeks back, the Dolphins’ newest wideout Tyreek Hill received heavy backlash for stating that Tua Tagovailoa is a more accurate passer than Patrick Mahomes. This did not sit right with critics as well as fans and it reached a point where he started getting death threats on his social media accounts.

On the latest episode of his podcast, It Needed to be Said Hill made yet another statement where he said that people will regret looking down on Tua and the haters will be ‘taking their words back’ this year.

During his new episode which aired last Friday, Tyreek Hill was joined by Dolphins teammate Jaylen Waddle where the two heaped praise on Tua and showed their support towards the young star desperately trying to him his mark in the NFL. “It’s gonna be a lot of people taking their words back on what they said about [Tua],” Hill said. “I can’t really name point, but I’m saying reporters, analysts, Twitter trolls. All those people are gonna take their words back on what they said about [Tua], and I’m just gonna be sitting there, eating my popcorn.”

Hill seems genuine in his admiration of Tua Tagovailoa. He holds the QB at a certain level and it builds confidence in a third-year quarterback who has had a rocky start to his career. The Dolphins subbed Tua in and out of games which doesn’t exude trust in the QB and it also didn’t help that journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick was much more capable of keeping Maimi’s playoff dream a reality.

Even after Fitzpatrick’s departure, there were rumors that the team was looking to bring in Deshaun Watson as their QB1. While it didn’t come to pass, it was hardly an environment to nurture a rookie quarterback. So, maybe by showing his support for Tua, Hill has been helping the 24-year-old to gain the confidence to lead the team to victories.

The Dolphins have two No. 1 wide receivers on the roster and this might give them an entire workup of their QB’s skills and also puts them in a position to win more games heading into 2022. However, Hill is also fully aware of the fact that this might be Tua’s final season in Miami if he fails to deliver yet again. “You know, in the NFL they only give you like two or three years to be a successful quarterback, especially if you’re a first-round draft pick,” Hill said. “And if you don’t succeed after those years, then it’s, ‘kick rocks, man.’ So, basically, they’re going to put Tua into that. So this is basically his last year, man, just to show people what he got.”
