Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell surely could bet the world against his team. After running back D’Andre Swift scored on a seven-yard rush, Campbell never wanted the Lions to settle for a tie. Eventually with just over 37 seconds remaining in regulation, Lions led by a point against the Vikings. Yet the latter did not lose hope and marched down to score a 54-year field goal to win in the most dramatic way possible.
As a result of the 54-yard field goal, Vikings won 19-17. After the loss Dan Campbell simply could not hold himself together and broke down infront of the media, calling out the loss a true ‘heartbreaker’. Those who are not aware, Lions also lost a close contest in week 3 when Justin Tucker nailed a 66-yard field goal to give Ravens the much-required win.
Dan Campbell Breaks Down After Vikings Beat Lions 19-17
“When you see your players give all that they have and you lose that way, it’s tough,” Dan Campbell said. “You don’t want that for them. But we’ll be better for it and credit Minnesota. We made the one mistake that cost us. Ultimately, we didn’t do enough to win.”
“I was proud of them, and I love the fight they have in them,” Campbell said of his team. “And I love the grit.”
Having said that after being deprived of their first win and after registering 0-5 start, Dan Campbell will be expecting his Lions to secure their first win of the season when they host Cincinnati Bengals next week.
