Tom Brady and the New England Patriots were 7-2 and on a 6 game winning streak heading into their week 10 matchup against the Tennessee Titans where they got blown out and lost by 34-10. “We got our a** kicked,” – Tom Brady on the game to which he further added, “They put it on us pretty good. They probably played one of the best games they’d played all season, and really embarrassed us.”
He believes, “That game made them realize that you cannot take anyone lightly and have to give your best in order to win the game regardless of how many games you have won in the season or how long your winning streak is.”
THE AFC Championship game against the Chiefs
Brady’s Patriots were facing Mahomes led Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game which was highly anticipated and the hype around that game was unreal because of the top level of quality football those two teams played during that season.
Tom Brady was facing Patrick Mahomes for the first time in playoffs which many believed was the moment that “The torch will get passed”. Brady who has been the best for such a long time faced the QB who was acclaimed as the “Next big thing in football” in Patrick Mahomes who had led the Chiefs to the AFC Championship game in just his 1st season as the starter of the team.
Tom Brady mentioned that the 2014 Season’s loss to the Chiefs was played a big part in their preparations for this match. He said, “We were there in 2014, and we didn’t play great and they destroyed us. It was the loudest I could ever remember a football stadium. I’m happy I went through that experience because when we went there for the playoffs, the AFC Championship, I knew how loud the game was going to be at the start. So there was no intimidation.”
The AFC Championship game vs the Chiefs was not easy for them as the game really went away from them before luck of fortune happened which led them to come back into the game and ultimately win the game and secure the trip to the Super Bowl.
Tom Brady’s teammate Edelmann described that moment by saying, “I was never scared in that game until [the would-be interception],” Edelman admitted. “Then I’m sitting there like, ‘We really lost this f****** game? Damn, this offseason is going to suck.’”
The Kansas City Cheifs defense committed a penalty due to which the Interception got called off and the Patriots were given a chance to redeem themselves, to which Edelman further added, “Then I saw the flag, oh we’re back let’s go,” ultimately motivating them to win the game and go to the Super Bowl to face the Los Angeles Rams.
