In NFL games, the wide receivers play a crucial role. They must be able to run as quickly as they can to avoid the opposition team’s defense. One such WR who is a notorious name for leaving behind his opponents is Tyreek Hill. As the NFL‘s fastest wide receiver, Tyreek Hill has earned the nickname “Cheetah” due to his speed on the field. He currently plays for the Miami Dolphins, won the Super Bowl LIV with the Chiefs, and as a punt returner was named to the NFL’s All-Decade team in 2010.

When it comes to his speed, Hill is without a doubt the fastest runner in the league, clocking an intense 4.29 seconds in the 40-yard dash in his predraft measurables. This feat instantly gained him the current moniker of ‘cheetah’ to Hill.

With reference to this stat, “Usain Bolt,” the greatest 100m former Olympic runner, decided to poke some fun at Tyreek Hill. Bolt created a buzz when he nudged Hill during his appearance on the Pat McAfee show, which also excited the fans.

“Me and Tyreek Hill got into it, he was talking ‘blah blah blah. But, then I went to the combine one year, and if you go on the net right now, I ran 4.22 in my sweats and some street shoes. I was like, ‘Come on, Tyreek Hill. You got no chance!'” Bolt stated on the show..

Hill was quick enough to respond in a challenging manner with a single line, “Line up then stop hiding,” after Bolt had said this.

During his conversation with reporters at the Chiefs training camp in 2021, the young record maker expressed his desire to race Bolt, adding more fuel to the fire, calling Bolt old, not so subtly.

“Usain Bolt got out of the game for a reason, right?” Hill told reporters. “He’s old, he’s washed up, and he can’t see me in 40 yards. Hundred-yard dash, yes, that’s what he does. But 40-yard dash, according to this, Usain Bolts, you cannot see me.”

Is Tyreek Hill really faster than Usain Bolt?

World Athletics reports recorded that Hills ran a 40-yard dash in 4.29 seconds at the 2016 NFL combine and that his top speed was 22.8 miles—hence his nickname, Cheetah. The Bolts, on the other hand, hold the world record for the 100 meters with a time of 9.58 seconds. Additionally, he has run the 40-yard dash in 4.22 seconds.

With their ongoing back and forth for the title of who is the fastest 40-dash runner, Bolt took the feud to the next level in February 2022. Bolt was laughing at Hill’s effort in a Pro Bowl race, who was visibly lacking behind the Dallas Cowboys LB, Micah Parsons, rookie at that time.

“He’s not ready,” Bolt said of Hill. “He got beaten by some linebacker! He ain’t ready for this!”

If the challenge had been with another player, this question would have been ridiculed. Despite Hill’s confidence to put up the challenge in front of the speed icon is itself appalling keeping the fact in mind that Bolt’s record is still unshakable in the first place, who did Bolt get to prove his knack when his shelf is overflowing with accolades? He dismissed the challenge, saying that Hill or any NFL player out there needs to be serious before calling him for a challenge.
