Lurie, who was born in 1951, was welcomed into a very wealthy family. His grandfather Philip Smith was the owner of General Cinema, which was a well-known chain of movie theatres at that time.

A very interesting fact that not a lot of people might know about Jeffrey Lurie is that he had expressed an interest in buying the New England Patriots, but that didn’t pan out according to plan. In 1994, he acquired the Philadelphia Eagles along with his mother. He bought the franchise from Norman Braman for $195 million in 1994.
During his time with the Philadelphia Eagles, Lurie has made some bold decisions that involve the firing of long-standing head coach Andy Reid. Reid was one of the most successful coaches for the franchise over a14 year period, featuring nine playoff berths and a Super Bowl appearance. The decision can be hailed as a masterstroke, especially after the Eagles won their first-ever Super Bowl trophy in 2018.
