San Francisco 49ers have done it again! They defeated Aaron Rodgers and the Packers in the divisional round of the playoffs. The 49ers crushed the hopes of a Packers Super Bowl by 13-10 in an absolutely magically fourth-quarter play.
Aaron Rodgers is 0-4 against the 49ers in the playoffs. It looked like the Packers would have an easy victory around halftime since they were leading by 7 points. However, a fourth-quarter miracle kept the 49ers’ hope alive which resulted in their victory.
This the moment where Green Bay Packers lost the game
Jimmy Garoppolo and the offense were lagging as usual in the game. It looked like Jimmy G was trying to throw the game since there was not a single offensive touchdown in the game by the 49ers’ offense. The special teams took notice and came up with a clutch play late in the fourth quarter down by a touchdown.
The Packers were pinned down in their own zone after failing to score a first down. So, the Packers called out the special teams to punt the ball. Corey Bojorquez was set to punt out of the end zone. But the 49ers’ DE Jordan Willis blocked the punt and Talanoa Hufanga picked up the ball and sprinted untouched into the end zone thus tying the game 10-10. This was a game-changing moment for both teams.
This miracle happened with less than 5 minutes left in the game. Following the special teams’ touchdown, the ball went back into the hands of Aaron Rodgers. Even Rodgers failed to score points for Green Bay. The game was decided by a 45-yard field goal by Robbie Gould. The 49ers’ successful field goal attempt sealed the game for them.
NFL fans are enraged at Green Bay Packers special teams after they couldn’t punt the ball successfully
The Packers’ special teams have been a problem for them the entire season. Green Bay will be looking to remedy this problem in the off-season along with many personnel changes. The 49ers will now advance to the NFC Championship game where they will either face Tampa Bay Buccaneers or Los Angeles Rams.
