Boston Bruins Brad Marchand got one shot by NHL referee Wes McCauley during a game against Vancouver Canucks. The Bruins have been keeping up their winning streak quite well, with their gator acquiring points and warnings in mostly all matches.
Sunday’s game against the two teams witnessed a bizarre situation as Marchand unintentionally clashed with the NHL referee, falling down on the ice. Both quickly got up in seconds and skated on, but fans on social media found the incident quite funny.
Recently, the Bruins forward has been quite active off the ice on social media platforms. Starting from Trevor Zegras and Troy Stecher’s incident to the recent 2025 NHL All-Star Game palace announcement, Marchand has left his trail. While some enjoy his witty comebacks, some are quite offended by him.
Brad Marchand decides on a new role for Linus Ullmark
The NHL on-road villain Brad Marchand has finally taken a hit, unintentionally by none other than exNHLer and fan-favorite referee Wes McCauley. Though the Bruins demolished Canucks 3-1, the victory was shrouded by the clashing incident on the ice.
In the last 5 games, Marchand has either added an assist or a goal to the team’s victory. He almost seemed unstoppable in the 2022-23 season games, but his time stopped briefly during Sunday’s match. In the 2nd period, Brad Marchand tripped on the ice following his check with Wes.
The forward was handling the puck with his head down in deep concentration when the referee crashed into him near the boards. As of now, no injury has been reported. Whereas Brad crashed on the ice, Wes seemed pretty unmoved. This reaction took off the internet by storm as fans sided with Wes for fun.
The wild night came to an end with an extraordinary play by Bruins goaltender Linus Ullmark. He became the 13th netminder in league history to score a goal. Brad later joked about how he has determined a role for Linus on the team.
He told the reporters, “I’m sure he’ll be on the power play next”. During the game, Linus stopped 26 of 27 shots against Canucks. The Bruins are on a run with their 6th consecutive win and are ready to face Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers.
Last time McDavid and the Oilers destroyed Sidney Crosby and the Penguins. Rumors and talk about the match have still filled online platforms where the two legends play on the ice and are compared. Nevertheless, Marchand’s incident with Wes gave the game night an interesting turn while keeping the fans entertained.
