The cushions and protections that were added to the event safeguarded the player from any fatal injury. Cale Makar soon got up and skated along, a bit embarrassed about his fall. He later stated, “I gave you guys some good content tonight”.

Though it’s highly doubted who enjoyed it, more than being terrified at it. The 2022 James Norris Memorial Trophy winner, came in last of the race as Carolina Hurricanes Andrei Svechnikov snatched 1st place with a 13.75 seconds record, and Los Angeles Kings Kevin Fiala took 2nd place with 13.9 seconds.

Makar completed his rounds with 22.3 seconds in, far away from the top spots. During an interview with Sportsnet’s David Amber, Makar stated that he is uninjured thanks to the paddings. He was just a bit embarrassed about his awkward fall.

Whether he came in first or not, fans are relieved to know that the player is safe and sound. Some fans questioned and asked the league to put more cushions to avoid any serious injury during the break, as they’ll start on their race for the Cup play soon after.
