Little Sergei took on ice, sprawling across in his yellow tightened shoes, reaching for the puck and ultimately scoring a perfect goal against Hall of Famer Robert Luongo. When P.K. Subban asked Ovie and Crosby to sign All-Star jerseys, the Penguins captain interrupted saying, “I think we might need one more signature” looking at Sergei.

Sergei had his special jersey donned which stated Ovechkin Jr., melting the heart of the fans and the panel of judges. Even Ovechkin all the while had a bright smile on his face as he looked over his son skating on the ice. While the puck touched Crosby and Ovie’s stick, little Ovie Jr. tapped his own to get his chance.

Alex Ovechkin said, “That’s a special moment, I think”. “The fans love it. We both love it. It’s great for the game. It’s great for both of us. And obviously for Sergei, as well.” Sidney Crosby said, “I don’t even think that was rehearsed. I think that was pure joy.”

Fans already knew Ovie and Crosby will be joining forces but to see them work together on ice was a sweet moment. Even Boston Bruins forward David Pastrnak said, “The rivalry between Sid and Ovi, it’s unbelievable”. “I’m happy they came up with that. You don’t see that very often, with Washington and Pittsburgh, so it was awesome.”

Crosby commented, “It means a lot”. “We were younger players coming in and there were older guys that we felt the same way about. Even though you’ve played in the League for a while, I think you appreciate the opportunity to spend some time with guys. … That’s probably part of the highlight.”

According to ESPN Ovechkin commented, “I remember when I was a little younger, we would share a bench with legends. Those were special moments.” Apart from his partnership win with Crosby, Ovie said that skating with his son was undoubtedly a precious moment for him.
