Legendary right-hand winger Jaromir Jagr sets ice on fire with his 2022-23 debut as part of the Kladno Knights against the HC Bili Tygri Liberec. Shrugging off his 51-year-old age tag, he got two assists in the game leading the team. Unfortunately, the Knights fell to the Liberec at 7-3 but Jagr achieved his primary motive.
Jagr strongly intended to avoid suspension by the League for pausing the game again, and with his limelight entrance, the team definitely has avoided that problem. As the owner of the Knights in the Czech Extraliga, he suited up his uniform since donning for NHL 2017 season.
He had to fill in on Sunday’s game, as the majority of the players fell victim to a widespread illness decimating the lineup. It was Jagr’s first game in a while. If he didn’t suit up the club could have received a second straight postponement hearing from the League.

They were down to 12 skaters on Saturday, which made the almost 51-year-old debut once again. Sadly enough, his appearance on ice stretched his Hall of Fame induction back to at least 2026 for now. Though he’s not upset, as his game avoided the suspension of the club.
Jaromir Jagr stated, “My arrival was not planned in advance”. “When Liberec decided to not postpone the match, we only had 12 players at training on Saturday. There was a threat of suspension and I didn’t want it to happen.”
Since leaving the Calgary Flames in 2018, he has at least suited up for 1 game each year and his franchise since being the Stanley Cup Champion back in 1991 and 1992. He played with several National Hockey League teams including – Pittsburg Penguins, New York Rangers, Washington Capitals, Florida Panthers, New Jersey Devils, Philadelphia Flyers, Boston Bruins, Dallas Stars, and Flames.
After terminating his contract with the Flames, he purchased a majority share of the Knights within a few days. In all his NHL stints combined, he has acquired a record of 766 goals and 1,921 points in 1,733 contests. Since 2017-18 with the Knights, he scored 26 goals and 70 points over 110 career games.
Jagr holds one of the longest career histories in NHL as he participated in over 2000 games in 34 seasons (till 2021). His name is etched as of of the 100 Greatest NHL Players in history, while he also comes in second to the Great One for most points in NHL.
