Los Angeles Kings fans were brutal as they sang and celebrated the Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby’s ejection from the game. They followed it up with their farewell song of Steam’s “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye”. Crosby’s ejection not only shocked him but also head coach Mike Sullivan.
Sullivan noted, “I don’t think Garrett had any interest in giving us an explanation”. The whole fiasco started with Crosby being knocked on the ice by Kings defenceman Mikey Anderson. Both were battling for position in front of the Kings’ net when the defenceman knocked the veteran 3-time Stanley Cup winner.
Things would have ended with Anderson sitting in the penalty box with a 10-minute misconduct but escalated as Crosby skated forward to the 23-year-old player. He further had a bit of talk with official Garrett Rank which landed the captain with a game misconduct call.

Sidney Crosby is one of the most celebrated players in the NHL, one who has been repeatedly praised by none other than The Great One, Wayne Gretzky. Starting from his leadership on the ice to play, he’s one of the highest-ranked players. Often known for his cool demeanor there are times when the veteran loses his cool.
He has been in a spat with many NHL players and has been a victim of penalty minutes, but game misconduct was missing from the list. Now he even has that, following the Penguins’ 6-0 loss to the Kings. It was a devastating loss for the Pens, as they only won 3 out of 5 games.
In his 1,160 NHL career games, Crosby’s 20 penalty minutes in the recent game have been the 2nd highest. Crosby commented on his ejection, “I could tell he [Anderson] was saying something. I don’t know what he was saying because we were pretty far from each other. I got closer and that happens often in a lot of scrums”.
“Honestly, I was shocked that I was getting kicked out of the game. I had no idea.” When asked how he felt about the referee’s decision, he stated, “I mean, can I really say what I think anyway? Let’s be honest here”.
According to Scouting the Refs, Sidney Crosby has reportedly said “That’s ****ing bull****,” twice to Garrett, calling upon the game misconduct rule. This was not only his first event of the week. Earlier he also had a heated exchange with Anaheim Ducks Trevor Zegras.
Even after the whistle blew, Zegras did a spin on the ice with the puck aggravating the Pens’ captain to bump shoulder to shoulder. Crosby clearly hinted his message to the young star forward, though nothing more happened compared to the game misconduct call.
