Vancouver Canucks defenceman Tyler Myers smashed Toronto Maple Leafs forward John Tavares on the ice during an intense game on Saturday night. Canucks vs. Leafs’ play has been getting some heat even before the whistle sounded.

Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet said that they were ready to jump into the playoff berth run, and it proved to be true as the team defeated the mighty Leafs in a 4-1 win. Their playoff mindset must have been very intense as an enthusiastic Tyler bumped and smashed the Leafs’ captain John Tavares on the ice.

Apparently, the hit was so huge that a gasp could be heard from the arena crowd clearly. Luckily, Tavares didn’t hurt himself too much as he dusted off the ice and skated along. Even the fans have been pretty heated up considering their outside-arena fight.

A few fans started a large brawl soon after the game between Canucks vs. Leafs ended flashily with the former snatching victory with a 4-1 win. Even some bystanders had to intervene to separate the two fans from going against each other.

In the background, a guy can be heard saying, “Guys it’s a f***ing hockey game.” “Settle down”. The tussle between John Tavares and Tylers Myers marked an intervention from Leafs’ new linemate Jake McCabe. After a monstrous trade from the Chicago Blackhawks, the defenceman won off the Leafs fan base with his play and support to his teammates.

Unfortunately, in this process, McCabe got penalized by NHL for 17 minutes. Though he never has been known for engaging in fights, he’s not a defenceman to stay away from it either way. The fans are more than happy to see Tavares out of danger and skating, especially after the 2021 incident.

In the 2021 postseason, John Tavares suffered a major hit from Corey Perry and he had to take his time off the ice. Leafs’ Auston Matthews also had to leave the ice only to return in the second period. In the first period with 1:18 remaining, Matthews blocked a shot from Canucks defenceman Noal Juulsen.

Matthew’s knee blocked the shot and he remained down on ice before heading to the locker room. In the postgame interview, he said, “Just caught me in a weird spot and just stung and still stings”. “I was able to get it to calm down and able to get out there and grind it out.”
