Vegas Golden Knights finally won the Stanley Cup following their franchise expansion in 6-years. The Knights successfully demolished the Florida Panthers in an astounding 3-9 record, clinching a 4-1 series win. The streets in Las Vegas are resounding the celebrations of the team’s first win, as fans and players yet can’t believe what transpired.

Their aggressive play pushed the Panthers out of elimination in Game 5 at T-Mobile Arena. Unfortunately, Cats ace player, Matthew Tkachuk couldn’t be a part of the game as he’s placed in IL because of a broken sternum. The Panthers collapsed in Tkachuk’s absence, losing its chance to grab the 2023 Stanley Cup.

The Golden Knights owner Bill Foley, who was once ridiculed for talking about title victory ahead of the team’s 2017-18 season debut, is now being congratulated in an ultimate fashion. Knights captain Mark Stone contributed to 3 goals in the team’s victory with Adin Hill making 31 saves.

Adin Hill’s extraordinary performance during Game 5 pushed the team to its victory. He killed the Panthers’ momentum by stopping Anton Lundell early on while making a big save against Aleksander Barkov. He also robbed Anthony Duclair of his goal with a glove save in 3rd period.

Hill took the netminding post after Laurent Brossoit left the position empty following an injury in 2nd round. Hill taking the advantage went on 11-4 for the rest of the playoffs. Mark Stone commented after the win, “I can’t even describe the feelings in my stomach right now. Everything you can imagine.”

It’s an incredible feeling as the grind of 82 regular season games, and four playoff rounds was brought to fruition. Vegas forward and former Washington Capitals player Jonathan Marchessault won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP of the Stanley Cup playoffs and also hoisted Lord Stanley for the 2nd time in his career.

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman congratulated Stone while presenting the Cup, “What has happened here has been simply incredible. Not only is Vegas a hockey town, it’s a championship town”. With the celebrations ending in the next few days, the Cup will be traveling to the player’s home for a vacation rest.

Fans will be looking forward to the parade and further celebrations, as Panthers will be heading home prepping for the trade season. Panthers coach Paul Maurice stated that he’s not upset as the team gave their all in the playoff round. They’ll be now grinding it out till they get their Cup chance in 2024 again.
