In Short
  • AJ Brown reportedly wants to be traded from the Philadelphia Eagles.
  • The Eagles have not agreed to trade Brown, despite his request last year.
  • Nick Foles suggests the New England Patriots would be a good fit for Brown.

Even though Nick Foles left the Philadelphia Eagles in 2019, the retired NFL quarterback still has some influence in the building to learn that AJ Brown does want the Eagles to trade him to a different NFL team. The Eagles are not ready to part ways with the all-pro wide receiver just yet, but the June 1 release remains a strong possibility.

Brown is among the best receivers in the league and won a Super Bowl as recently as 2025 amid locker room tensions with quarterback Jalen Hurts. According to sources, Brown requested a trade last year when the Eagles were in the midst of a slump.

Teams reached out with offers until general manager Howie Roseman declared that they did not want to trade Brown. The Eagles won their division and moved on to the wildcard round, where they lost to the San Francisco 49ers. Brown recorded a career-low 12.9 yards per catch for 1003 yards and 7 touchdowns.

With the season done and dusted, Brown is ready for a different challenge, according to former Eagles signal caller Nick Foles. Speaking with Jeff Skversky of Fox29, the Super Bowl MVP claimed that Brown wants to be traded from the Eagles.

I know around the league that know A.J. a little bit… What I’ve gathered is, [he] wants to be traded. but I also think like he wants to be traded to specific places.

The Eagles changed the offensive coordinator for the fourth time in four years with the appointment of Sean Mannion. Despite his young lineage, Mannion has garnered praise for his offensive schemes. Then again, the Eagles could witness similar circumstances as last year when Kevin Patullo commanded the offense. Brown does not want to go through that again.

Nick Foles revealed the name of the NFL team that’s best suited for AJ Brown

Any NFL team would be fortunate to have an elite receiver like Brown. Some of the names he’s linked with are the Kansas City Chiefs, the Carolina Panthers, and the Cleveland Browns. Foles believes the best fit for Brown is the New England Patriots.

Brown shares a past connection with the Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel from their time in Tennessee. It was Vrabel who drafted Brown when he managed the Titans in 2019.

I think New England would make a lot of sense because of his history [with coach Mike] Vrabel. I think that’s obvious, right? And I think he even said he grew up a Patriots fan, if I’m correct. So that would be like two-fold situation.

Roseman prefers his cards close to himself. When reporters asked him to elaborate on Brown’s trade rumors to the Patriots, Roseman made it clear that 28-year-old remains an Eagle.

What do you think the odds are I’m gonna answer this question any different than I have? Like really.. AJ Brown is an Eagle.

Roseman said earlier this week

June 1 is one date that has been mentioned by several publications, including NBC Sports. After June 1, the cap acceleration in 2026 would not hit the Eagles. Any dead money for the 2027 season and beyond would hit in 2027.
