Russell Westbrook will sign with the Denver Nuggets on a veteran minimum contract.
Nikola Jokic getting Russell Westbrook on Denver Nuggets off waivers
Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets tried their best last season to repeat as NBA Champions. Nevertheless, they came up short in the playoffs. A lack of bench production was cited as the primary reason. Not only points but also rebounding and defense were lacking. This off-season, though, they have made some moves. However, Russell Westbrook might be the most surprising so far.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported earlier today that the Los Angeles Clippers are sending Westbrook and cash along with a pick-swap to the Utah Jazz for Kris Dunn. He then revealed that the former triple-double champion would agree to a contract buyout, essentially making him a free agent. This paves the way for him to sign with the Denver Nuggets. It is also expected that he will sign a veteran minimum deal to give the team some flexibility.
All that transactional news aside, the fit is intriguing. After all, Russell Westbrook has struggled with shooting the ball over the past year. However, he makes it up with his energy, defense, and rebounding. More crucially, he can motivate the bench players to deliver their best.
That is what the Nuggets are counting on. That also explains why the likes of Jokic, Jamal Murray, and DeAndre Jordan have been coaxing the franchise to sign Russell Westbrook this off-season. Fans, however, are excited for this combination.

Nikola Jokic tried his best to motivate his teammates, but what if Westbrook provided that second voice. Basketball fans, knowing this, have jumped onto social media to talk about this intriguing combination. Check out some of their reactions below;
Once the details are ironed out, the deal will be completed in the next few days. After that, Westbrook will go to work alongside the 3-time MVP and his new teammates, all for the common goal: To be NBA Champions again in the Mile High City.
