Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles ready to accept Tyreek Hill to race only if the Dolphins WR is ‘serious’

After being called out by Tyreek Hill, who is the fastest player in the NFL, Noah Lyles has finally accepted the race challenge.

If there’s one beef that caught steam in the last few days, it’s Noah Lyles and Tyreek Hill calling each other out. It all started with the Miami Dolphins wide receiver—considered to be the fastest player in the NFL—claiming he could beat Lyles.

After winning the gold medal in 100 meters at Stade France in Paris, Lyles became the fastest man on the planet. Shortly after, Hill proclaimed that he was fast enough to beat the 27-year-old if they raced against each other.

Lyles, who apparently had no clue who Tyreek Hill was, sat down with Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson on the duo’s Nightcap podcast called the Miami Dolphins star wideout.

I am gonna be honest; I forget his name [Tyreek ‘Cheetah’ Hill] all the time. And I am gonna be honest, it’s not about track and it ain’t about League of Legends…

Johnson was having the time of his life listening to Lyles pulling no punches as Sharpe threw in a curve ball.

He [Tyreek Hill] said come and get some—come and get some.

Lyles all of a sudden became serious and claimed Hill only talks a big game but never comes through with his promises.

Tyreek is just chasing clouds. The man, anytime somebody fast comes up he says he wants to race him. If he really wanted to race people he would have showed up like DK Metcalf. And the man raced in the 60 meters this year in the Masters’ division. The man dodges smoke. I don’t got time for that.

Lyles does have a point. In 2020, Seattle Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf ran in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics qualifier. However, 10.36 seconds wasn’t enough for him to enter the top 9.

On the other hand, Hill recently chickened out from racing YouTuber IShowSpeed, who showed up at the Dolphins facility to race him. Before that, he challenged 100-meter record holder Usain Bolt to a 40-yard dual but never competed.

Noah Lyles gives Tyreek Hill his ‘yes’

Sharpe and Johnson’s body language screamed they wanted Hill and Lyles to battle it out on the track. The Hall of Famer gave a shoutout to all potential sponsors for making the race happen and then threw the ball in Lyles’ court.

The pair eventually managed to convince the sprinter to announce the challenge to Hill.

We can race. If he's serious about it, if he is truly serious about it and not just talking on the internet and you ain’t actually coming to me and talking to my agent to set something up... if you're serious about it, you'll see me on the track.

Now it’s a waiting game. Hill rarely backs down from a challenge, especially if his opponent has initiated it.

The 8-time Pro Bowler did register a personal time of 9.98 seconds (wind assisted) in the men’s 100-meter dash during his junior college days. He also clocked 10.19 (legal) while competing in the  Golden South Classics in Florida (2012).

However, neither of them comes close to Noah Lyles’ best of 9.79 seconds. It will be interesting to see if Hill can actually keep up if they race.
