Alexander Zverev has been one of the consistent players on the ATP Tour this season. He reached the second week of all four Grand Slams and even reached the final of one. However, Novak Djokovic’s former coach Goran Ivanisevic believes that the German star is nowhere on the level of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
Zverev recently claimed the Paris Masters title, his second of the season, after beating home favorite Ugo Humbert in straight sets in the final. The 27-year-old also reached the semifinals of the Australian Open before finishing as runners-up at the French Open.
Zveren lost to Taylor Fritz in the Round of 16 of Wimbledon and the quarterfinals of the US Open. On the other hand, Alcaraz and Sinner have enjoyed more success than any other player on the ATP Tour this season.
Alcaraz has won four titles this season, including two Grand Slams and the Indian Wells Masters. Sinner has clinched two Slams, three Masters 1000, and two ATP 500 crowns. With the two ATP stars at the top, Ivanisevic doesn’t see how Zverev can challenge them.
Nobody. Zverev has too many ups and downs. He plays great up until some point, then comes a match where he really needs to put it together, where he needs to perform at his best – that’s when he fails, and against Alcaraz and Sinner, you need to be at your best always.

Meanwhile, Zverev achieved an outstanding 66-20 record this season and is likely to hit the 90-match mark at the ATP Finals. He is currently ranked World No. 2, one place above Alcaraz.
Alexander Zverev rubbishes claims of fatigue ahead of the ATP Finals
The men’s tour is headed for its season-ending prestigious ATP Finals in Turin, which gets underway on November 10. So far, six players, including Alexander Zverev, Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, Taylor Fritz, and Casper Ruud, have secured their place in the tournament.

While there have been some concerns that the players may be mentally tired, Zverev has rubbished that claim. He stated that players are motivated to play their best at the ATP Finals.
I think the later tournaments in the season, which are normal tournaments, there maybe some players are a bit more tired, maybe lacking motivation a bit, but I think in Turin, once you made that tournament, I mean, you’re fighting all year to make the cut there, right? At the end of the day, you’re only playing the best eight players in the world. So there is no easy matches, and you have to play your best tennis from the first match on.

In related news, Novak Djokovic, who was sixth in the ATP Finals Live Race, announced on Tuesday (November 5) that he is withdrawing from the tournament. This now leaves Andrey Rublev and Alex de Minaur in pole contention to qualify for the event.
