“Novak Djokovic had too much on his plate”, says Serena’s coach after Novak’s exit from US Open 2020

The World number 1 Tennis player and modern day legend Novak Djokovic has been defaulted from the US Open 2020 due to the breach of code of conduct norms. He smashed the ball out of disappointment which further went on to hurt a line judge.

This incident took place during the first set of the pre-quarter final (Round of 16) match against Pablo Carreno Busta of Spain at the Flushing Meadows. Since then experts are having different opinions about the unfortunate incident. Novak Djokovich was on a 26 match winning streak before he made this mistake.

Patrick Mouratoglou’s word on the situation

Serena Williams’ coach Patrick Mouratoglou expressed his view on the situation. He said that Novak Djokovic had too much on his plate with reference to the recently formed Professional Tennis Players’ Association (PTPA). Mouratoglou said that the concerns about how to convince other players to join the association could have been playing on his mind. Novak’s missed opportunity

The Number 1 seed of the tournament, 33 year old Novak Djokovic has been enjoying a rich run of form through out 2020. He won the only Grand Slam happened so far in 2020, the Australian Open and recently won the Cincinnati Masters Open heading into US Open. He was on a 26 match winning streak.

His decision of launching the PTPA did not go well with many as some questioned the exclusion of Women players from the association while others straight away questioned even if there was a need to form such association. Novak was also tested corona positive earlier, which would have also added to the level of stress he might be going through.

And to surprise none, he was being considered as the clear favourite to win the US Open too. But this year has not been quite upto the mark for him off the court. Recently he resigned from his position as the ATP Player Council President last week before launching the PTPA.
