Caitlin Clark is undoubtedly the biggest draw in the WNBA ever since she got drafted by the Indiana Fever as the number one pick in 2024. But now in her third season, she is establishing herself as the best player in the world.

The Fever are finding their rhythm and form at the right time with the playoffs approaching. The game between the Fever and Chicago Sky on Sunday was the Clark show as they registered their fifth win in their last seven games.

With five games to go in the regular season, the Fever have sealed their spot in the playoffs. The convincing victory over the Sky saw them improve their record to 25-14, and they are currently sitting in fifth place in the standings.

American columnist Skip Bayless discussed Clark’s performance and demanded her to continue shooting more.

I love what I’m seeing from Caitlin Clark. First day she stepped on a pro floor, she knew she can pass so she sort of leaned back on that and it hurt her scoring. All of a sudden her confidence is exploding like her scoring totals. Just shoot it Caitlin. You can’t go back into your passing shell.

Clark exploded with 37 points against the Sky. There is no doubt that she is a gifted passer of the ball, but on Sunday night, she took a team-high 24 shots. She is having her best season in terms of scoring as she is averaging 22.1 points and 8.3 assists in 35 appearances. However, she is averaging just 15.7 shots per game, behind teammate Kelsey Mitchell, who is averaging 17.1 shots.

The 24-year-old is on a good scoring run, and Skip Bayless wants to see her shoot more and pass less heading forward. The veteran journalist has been following Clark closely for a while now and has been critical of her in the past. However, he has heaped praise on her growth this season and believes that she can lead her team on a deep postseason run this year.

Skip Bayless believes Caitlin Clark could draw inspiration from LeBron James and Luka Doncic

Clark’s performances this season have put her in the MVP conversation. Her fame is second to none, and her game is speaking for itself. She is more efficient from the floor and beyond the arc than she has ever been in her WNBA career. After the game on Sunday, Bayless felt that she could use her height to her advantage and shoot more often rather than making passes.

Bayless compared the Fever guard to LeBron James and Luka Doncic and believes that she could draw inspiration from the two former Los Angeles Lakers teammates.

She’s starting to remind me of LeBron and Luka in the dilemma they have faced their whole career about who exactly are they. You look at LeBron and Luka. The big advantage they have is LeBron’s 6’9” tall, Luka’s 6’7” tall to Caitlin’s 6 feet. But both are generational passers.

Clark currently leads the assists chart alongside Phoenix Mercury star Alyssa Thomas. She led the league in assists in her rookie season and has shown that she is a generational passer of the ball.

However, her recent scoring explosion has shown that it is better for the team if she sees herself as a scorer first. While she did score 37 points on Sunday, she had 10 assists as well.

Caitlin Clark’s performance on Sunday was a historic one

While the Sky have already been eliminated from playoff contention, it takes nothing away from the Fever’s performance. They dismantled their opponents as they recorded a 113-90 win at the WinTrust Arena.

Caitlin Clark was locked in from tip-off, and her double-double performance was a historic win. It was the fifth time that she recorded 30+ points and 10 assists in a game in her career. For context, the rest of WNBA history combined have done it four times.

The Fever can mount a title challenge if Clark can continue to carry her form into the postseason. She has played just two playoff games in her career as she missed the entire playoffs last year due to injury. If she can learn from James and Doncic on how to manage her scoring and passing, she can translate her performances into winning basketball more often.
