Hisayoshi Harasawa is a Japanese Judo giant who represents Japan in the +100 Kg category at the International level. He is one of the toughest challenges for the Heavyweight G.O.A.T, Teddy Riner.
Harasawa is the Gold Medalist of the 2021 Bishkek Asian Pacific Judo Championship and Silver Medalist of the 2019 Tokyo World Championship. He is the winner of eight times IJF World Tour and 2019 IJF World Masters Qingdao. The stakes are high for Harasawa to represent his home country and win a medal in the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Hisayoshi Harasawa was born on 3rd July 1992 in Shimonoseki, Japan. While Harasawa was a child he never aimed to play Olympics for the country one day, he joined a Judo school near his house when he was in primary school.
Later on, he joined Hayatomo High School for practice as his middle school didn’t have a Judo club. He joined Judo in the -66 Kg category as a young boy but his frame got bigger and he changed his weight category to the top category.
His coach, Mitsuya Nakamura sensed his early potential and motivated him to play for the national as well as international leagues.
Hisayoshi Harasawa Career Achievements
The Japanese Judo giant won his first international medal as a Bronze Medal in the 2013 Tokyo IJF Grand Slam. He presented a tough challenge for all the contenders in the +100 Kg weight category and he won Gold Medals in almost all the competitions in absence of Teddy Riner.
Harasawa holds five Gold Medals in the IJF Grand Slam and one Gold Medal in the IJF Grand Prix. He is a two-times World Championship medalist who won Silver Medal at the 2019 Tokyo World Championship and Bronze Medal at the 2018 Baku World Championship.
He shined brightest at the 2021 Bishkek Asian Pacific Judo Championship and 2019 Qingdao IJF World Masters by winning Gold Medal in both. Harasawa also sailed in the finals of the Rio Olympics 2016 but he lost the final fight to Riner and won Silver Medal in the Olympic Games.
