In a shocking incident on Sunday, former Sports doctor Larry Nassar was attacked in the Federal prison in the state of Florida. The 59-year was handed a 175-year sentence for sexually abusing hundreds of college and Olympic gymnastics women athletes. He is reported to be in stable condition at this moment of writing. This whole scene is reported to have taken place at around 2:35 in the afternoon.

As per reports from CNN, the disgraced doctor was stabbed a total of ten times. The attacks included being hit in the neck, back and chest. Medical officials of the prison were quick to the scene and played an important part in saving his life. He was later rushed to a nearby health facility where is he being treated. The officials have not released any further information regarding this scene.

The first charges against Nassar came back in 2016. As per victims, he had been alleged of using his power for wrong reasons since the 1990s. In 2018 several women testified against him. During the hearing, they mentioned how they spoke about Nassar’s actions against them to the higher-ups. However, the organization did not take any action against the doctor.

The world was left in shock when the news of Larry Nassar’s heinous actions came out. As the pressure kept on increasing in the state for failing to take action, Michigan State University agreed to pay a hefty sum of $380 million to the victims. This turned out to be the largest settlement for sexual abuse. However several big names including Simone Biles claimed that the FBI had failed them.

Several survivors later filed a lawsuit against the top bureau for failing to take any appropriate action against Nassar. “We have been failed and we deserve answers. It really feels like the FBI turned a blind eye towards us,” Biles said in a hearing in 2021. Sarah Klein, the first publicly known abuser of Nassar spoke about this incident and mentioned how this attack brings no peace to them.

In a fierce statement, Klein mentioned how this incident brings back horrific memories of the incidents which happened to them. She condemned the attack on Nassar and claimed that death will be an easy out for him. She closed out her statement by urging the officials to make sure Nassar faces the punishment and severe consequences for his actions.
