However, her comments did not go unnoticed by Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld, who criticized her for attempting to dictate women’s behavior.
With many asking if Lia Thomas has an unfair advantage over other female competitors, her comments have caused a media frenzy. She is criticised for having a physical edge due to her biological male anatomy, notably in terms of strength and endurance, which makes it challenging for other female athletes to compete on an even playing field.

There are compelling reasons on both sides of the complicated and difficult discussion surrounding transgender athletes in women’s sports. Others contend that gender identity shouldn’t be a barrier to sports participation, while some contend that transgender athletes have an unfair advantage over their rivals.
We must keep having these challenging discussions as a society and seek to develop just and equal solutions for all athletes. Then and only then will we be able to develop a sports environment that really welcomes and encourages athletes of all genders and identities.
