4x Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles emotionally moved by young fan amid struggles against mental health and trauma
Simone Biles is one of the most talent athletes the US has ever seen. She has inspired millions throughout the world with her jaw dropping performances. The 26-year-old has now shown her gratitude to a young fan mimicking her in a viral video on social media.

The world of gymnastics were left in shock when four-time Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles announced a break. The star athlete claimed injuries and mental health issues for her leave. Two weeks ago she announced her return much to the delight of her fans. A video of one such young fan later went viral. Reacting to this video, Biles was left emotional and reshared the moment saying “and this is why I do it.“
Biles has enjoyed a stellar career in gymnastics. Her rise to the top has inspired millions around the world. During the Tokyo 2020 games, Biles left the tournament in the middle which stunned many others. She was reported to be going through mental health issues and decided to look after her health rather than competing. While many happily agreed and appreciated her decision, some lashed out at her.
Biles though is no stranger to this experience. She has been super active on the internet, regularly sharing updates. This year was a pretty important one for her as she got married to her fiancee Jonathan Owens in April. The Olympic athlete once again showed her activity on the internet while resharing the one-minute video uploaded by the NBC Olympics.
In the video, a young fan was seen asking her mother to introduce herself as Simone Biles. The little girl would go on play and show off some skills as she mimicked the style of Biles. The American athlete acknowledge the efforts of the fan and claimed this is the reason she does all this – to inspire the upcoming generations to take on gymnastics.
Simeone Biles reveals undergoing lots of therapy to overcome past trauma
In the current age of rapid development of the internet, trolls and negative comments have increased. Athletes from every section of sports are subjected to this following any bad performance or actions. Simone Biles has also been through such negativity which has affected her mental health. In a recent Q&A on her Instagram account, Biles shared how she is going through therapy.
A user would ask Biles how she was handling the mental side of gymnastics after this round. The star athlete would go on to explain that she is going through “lots of therapy“. She further added that she undergoes them at least two hours once a week. Biles mentioned that she has gone through a lot of trauma and being able to work on it was a blessing.
Biles is now gearing herself to take part in the US Classic. The event started to take place on August 5 and will mark her competitive return since her absence from the field. The event is noted to serve as a warm-up tournament for the upcoming National Championships later that month. Many sets of eyes will be focused on how Biles can mark her grand return to the sports she loves.
