Leeds Rhinos legend Kevin Sinfield has won the heart of fans and admirers after his incredible gesture towards former teammate Rob Burrow at the Leeds Marathon. The internet has been showering the Rugby legend with praises after clips of him carrying Rob Burrow to the marathon’s finish line has gone viral.
Rob Burrow was diagnosed with motor neuron disease in 2019, which has left him incapable of movement since then. The rugby legend was seen being pushed by Sinfield around the course in a specially-adapted wheelchair. The most heartwarming highlight of the incident was when Sinfield lifted Burrow from the wheelchair and carried him to the finish line.
The spectators were awed and delighted with this incredible gesture by Sinfield. As the crowd cheered on him, Sinfield kissed Burrow after crossing the finish line, marking their epic bond and friendship over the years. This marathon was Leeds’ first in over 20 years and has been named Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon in honor of the Rhinos legend.

It is without a doubt to say that Rob Burrow is one of the most decorated players in the Rugby Super League’s history. In his 16 years spanning career with Leeds Rhinos, he has won eight Super League championships, two Challenge Cups, won the Harry Sunderland Trophy Twice, and was named to the Super League Dream Team three times. He was known for being the smallest player in Super League, and despite that, he is considered one of the greatest of the sport.
Ever since he was diagnosed with MND in 2019, Burrow has led continuous efforts for the betterment and upliftment of people suffering from this disease. The Leeds marathon aimed to raise funds for The Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neuron Disease Appeal and the Leeds Hospital Charity. Besides these, the marathon also supported several other social causes.
Speaking on this event, Kevin Sinfield says, “The support for the MND community through the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon has been fantastic. Today is a celebration of friendship.” As teammates, Sinfield and Burrow made an incredible pair at the Rhinos, and their cohesion also shows in their involvement with social causes off the field.
Sinfield has contributed over 8 million Pounds to MND charities on several occasions and has also run seven back-to-back ultramarathons last year in November. The gesture by Sinfield at the Leeds Marathon has garnered several reactions from fans and celebrities, including Manchester United’s top goal scorer Wayne Rooney.
