“There could be a tear or two in Tendulkar’s eyes as well. He is quite clearly taken by the emotion of it all. It’s been a long, long wait. It’s absolutely mind-boggling, mind-boggling event. 100 hundred in international cricket!” the great Sunil Gavaskar said on air while doing commentary.
Twitteratis are remembering Sachin Tendulkar and reliving his 100 centuries in international cricket
Sachin Tendulkar’s career began in 1989 as a 15-year-old boy in a Test match against Pakistan. A young Tendulkar could contribute just 15 runs before he was bowled out by Waqar Younis. Tendulkar did not have a dream ODI debut when again Waqar Younis dismissed him for a duck.
But he announced his arrival at the age of 17 when he scored his first century against England. Before turning 25, he had scored 16 tons in international cricket.
The 100 centuries in international cricket is one of the many records he scripted in his magnificent career lasting 24 years. He created almost every batting record.
Tendulkar will continue to inspire many people not just in India but all over the world. Yes he had natural talent but he did not create milestones just by talent itself; it needed hard work, dedication, and devotion to the sport. He maintained that he is not above the game despite climbing the ladder at a quicker rate.
For the people in India, Tendulkar is more than just a great batter. People worship him. They call him the God of Cricket.
“He has carried the burden of the nation for 21 years, it’s time we carried him on our shoulders,” uttered a young Virat Kohli after Team India won their first World Cup after 28 years, which was Tendulkar’s last appearance.
