Ousmane Dembele’s wife, Rima Edbouche Dembele, celebrated the France forward’s historic FIFA World Cup performance after he produced a sensational first-half hat trick in Les Bleus’ 4-1 victory over Norway on June 26.

Shortly after Dembele completed his treble, Rima took to her Instagram Story to share a photo of her television screen showing the France star celebrating while pointing to the vein in his arm. Although she was not in attendance at Boston Stadium, the post served as a subtle tribute to her husband’s remarkable achievement and did not include a caption.

Dembele delivered one of the standout individual displays of the tournament, finding the net in the seventh, 20th, and 32nd minutes. His third strike completed the hat trick in just 32 minutes, making it the second-fastest World Cup hat trick in history by elapsed match time.

Only Austria’s Erich Probst reached the milestone sooner, scoring three goals within the opening 24 minutes against Czechoslovakia at the 1954 FIFA World Cup.

The 29-year-old Ballon d’Or winner also etched his name into French football history, becoming only the third player from France to score a World Cup hat trick. Just Fontaine achieved the feat twice during the 1958 tournament, while Kylian Mbappé famously scored three goals in the 2022 World Cup final.

The dazzling performance also strengthened Dembele’s position among the tournament’s leading scorers. Having already found the net in France’s 3-0 win over Iraq earlier in the group stage, he now has four goals in the competition and continues to play a pivotal role in Les Bleus’ pursuit of World Cup glory.

Dembele and Rima married in December 2021 and welcomed their daughter in 2022. While Rima has largely stayed away from public attention, she has frequently supported her husband during important moments in his career and has appeared alongside him during club celebrations with Paris Saint-Germain.

France finish atop Group I after dominant win over Norway

France completed a perfect group stage campaign with a 4-1 victory over Norway, finishing first in Group I with nine points and 10 goals scored across three matches.

Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring after being played through by Kylian Mbappé before adding a second with a curling strike into the far corner. Norway briefly reduced the deficit through Thélo Aasgaard, but Dembele restored France’s two-goal advantage with another composed finish to complete his historic hat trick. Désiré Doué added France’s fourth goal in stoppage time.

The victory came under unusual circumstances for France, as the team played without head coach Didier Deschamps after he returned home to attend his mother’s funeral. Assistant coach Guy Stephan oversaw the team as Les Bleus secured top spot in the group.

Norway had already qualified for the knockout stage before kickoff and rested several key players, including Erling Haaland, Martin Ødegaard, and Alexander Sørloth. They advanced as Group I runners-up with six points.

After the match, Dembele stressed that France’s attention had already turned to the knockout rounds. “We want to win every match, and we’ll keep our focus because what’s coming next is even more important.”

France will face a third placed team in the Round of 32 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, while Norway will play Ivory Coast in Dallas.
