Pat McAfee seems to be having the time of his life in Dublin as he arrived for the first international GameDay between Florida State and Georgia Tech. He is now making headlines for a demure joke he made in reference to Brett Favre. 

While awaiting for week 0 of the college football season, McAfee joined the crew of ESPN College GameDay for the first broadcasting session of the season. He signed a five-year contract with ESPN last season worth $85 million and joined the A-listers including Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, and Bill Belichick.

While talking about Florida State, the famous House vs. NCAA case came up and with a topic of lawyers. That’s when, McAfee surprised everyone by dropping a related joke in reference to Pro Hall of Famer, Favre.

It turns out, that Favre and McAfee’s legal battle is quite a famous one as the former sued the latter and other members of the media on the charge of defamation last year. Although the former NFL star withdrew his case, the analyst was asked to offer a public apology to Favre. But if there’s one thing this lawsuit did, was it increased the reputation of lawyers in McAfee’s eyes.

How Brett Favre sued Pat McAfee over theft accusation

It’s the saga of February 2023, McAfee involved the Green Bay Packers legend’s name in the infamous Mississippi Welfare Fund scandal during an episode of The Pat McAfee show. He also accused Favre of being a “thief” for stealing “from the good people of Mississippi.” Shortly after this, he was sent a legal notice by Favre and his lawyer, Eric Hirschmann.

Favre’s name had been involved in the scandal for the past few years but he had continuously denied his involvement and asserted that he wouldn’t accept money “for no-show appearances.”

Pat McAfee said about the lawsuit on his show 

The matter between McAfee and the NFL legend was resolved later on, following which Favre withdrew his case. But in exchange, the ESPN analyst had to offer a public apology because the statements were entirely based upon public information.
