Paul Scholes is frustrated over the absence of a proper Centre Forward at Manchester United
United legend Paul Scholes has warned Manchester United that they should sign a proper centre forward in the next transfer window. It is to be noted Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s primary target in this transfer window was Jadon Sancho who is a winger and not a centre forward.
Paul Scholes criticized United for not having a natural goal scorer. He was also unhappy with the signing of Edinson Cavani as he is already 33 years old. Scholes also took a dig at Martial’s form who played in the striker position for Manchester United last season despite being a winger.
Paul Scholes issues a warning to Manchester United
Despite Anthony Martial scoring 17 Premier League goals from the centre forward position last season, many pundits are not happy with him playing as a striker. Time and again Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has been criticized for making his players play out of their natural position. This list includes Daniel James who plays down the right wing to allow Rashford play down the left. It also include the youngster Brandon Williams who plays at LB despite being right footed.
Paul Scholes took a dig at Martial for the same reason. He also criticized Martial for his poor performances this season as he is not playing in his natural position. Speaking about the same to Stadium Astro, Paul Scholes said, “These forwards are exceptionally talented lads. We all know that. The problem with United’s forwards is that none of them is an actual centre-forward. Martial almost conned us into thinking he was one at the end of last season because he scored so many goals and was quite good. He’s started this season quite poorly again, which makes you think he isn’t. It’s misleading.”
