The way Seth Rollins feigned a knee injury to eventually go on to win the world title at SummerSlam will be talked about for years to come. However, there’s more than meets the eye in this situation. As per a report from PWInsider, the fact that WWE worked its staffers and the roster to make them believe that Rollins was legitimately hurt has left a bad taste in their mouths.

Those upset with being worked include company employees and in-ring performers as well. Nikki Bella recently disclosed on The Nikki & Brie Show that she met Rollins backstage at the Evolution 2 PLE. The former Divas Champion divulged that the Chicago Bears fanatic was on crutches, and they had a serious 30-minute conversation over the severity of Rollins’ injury.

The Visionary’s commitment to make the injury seem real was unwavering and a testament to his conviction. Later that night, WWE CCO Triple H mentioned during the press conference that Rollins was there to support his wife, Becky Lynch.

‘The Game’ also claimed that the injury concerns encompassing ‘The Architect’ weren’t looking too promising and that he’d need to undergo a medical evaluation. Even if there was a glimmer of hope for Rollins’ injury to be nothing more than a ruse, it evaporated into thin air after The Cerebral Assassin’s statement.

WWE would go on to mention in subsequent weeks on its shows that the former Shield member would be out of action for an extended period of time. But on the second night of SummerSlam, ‘The Revolutionary’ shocked the world by revealing that he was merely faking it. Rollins successfully cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on CM Punk, who’d just dethroned Gunther for the World Heavyweight title.

What it took for Seth Rollins to keep his injury a secret?

The biggest challenge for Seth Rollins in his journey to keep his injury ruse under wraps was to convince his wife, Becky Lynch, and daughter, Roux. In a recent appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, the Iowa native claimed that Lynch was an unwilling participant in his plan, as she had to lie to her friends and family about her husband being hurt for almost three weeks.

She also posted a video of Rollins limping on crutches with Roux accompanying her dad to mislead the fans into believing that he was well and truly done for. Speaking of how Rollins convinced Roux to not spill the beans, the erstwhile Authority member told his baby girl that what they were doing was part of a game and she needed to not tell anyone what her father was actually up to.

Roux, however, couldn’t contain it and informed her preschool teacher. Rollins got to know about it, and he somehow kept Roux from leaking it further. The end result? It produced the ‘Ruse of the Century’ in one of the most awe-inspiring MITB cash-ins ever. The fans were spellbound and admitted that the only man to top the ‘Heist of the Century’ from WrestleMania 31 was Rollins himself.

Seth Rollins gets into a tricky title defense at Clash in Paris

In just over two weeks, Seth Rollins will defend his World Heavyweight title at Clash in Paris. It was announced by Adam Pearce on this week’s Raw that the leader of The Vision is entitled to defend his gold against CM Punk, LA Knight, and Jey Uso in a Fatal 4-Way showdown.

It came after all the chaos that ensued on Raw. The major money feud between Rollins and Roman Reigns is yet to come amid the ongoing shenanigans. Reigns vs. Rollins is being saved for a future PLE, as per WrestleVotes. Speaking of ‘The OTC’, he’ll be appearing on the upcoming two editions of Raw to set up his match for Clash in Paris.

He’s likely going to take on Rollins’ old foe and current heavy hitter Bronson Reed. The latter has stolen Reigns’ shoes twice and is mocking the Samoan garland Ula Fala in the most despicable way possible. The Tribal Chief’s response to the ultimate disrespect is going to be worth giving a watch.
