“Are We Eating Meatball Subs?” – Philly Fans Extremely Disappointed With Nick Sirianni’s Performance After Eagles’ Home Loss to Rams
Things are not looking good for the Philadelphia Eagles' fans after their team lost at home to the Los Angeles Rams.

Nick Sirianni is quickly running out of excuses to remain the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. Despite leading by double digits in the fourth quarter, questionable play-calling and judgment handed the Los Angeles Rams a victory.
The Eagles started brightly. They forced two turnovers from Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford and limited the Rams to one field goal and one touchdown in the first two quarters.
Jalen Hurts threw two touchdowns to Darius Cooper right before halftime, giving the Eagles a solid lead. Eagles had a great chance to extend it in the first five minutes of the final quarter. On fourth down, Sirianni called for a throw, and the Rams’ defense pressured Hurts to force an incompletion.
That was the turning point. Rams running back Kyren Williams scored a walk-in touchdown from inside the five-yard line and then added a second a couple of minutes later. The Rams led for the first time.
Eagles didn’t take the field goal on the other side of the field with a struggling offense -// and now the Rams just trotted down for a TD. Absolutely DUMB 4th down play-calling by Nick. #FlyEaglesFly #Eagles https://t.co/ROzeyMHrd7

As time ran out, Hurts threw a Hail Mary that was nearly picked off by the Rams’ secondary. The game finished 24-20. Both teams are 2-2, but it was the Eagles’ second loss in two weeks.
After the game, Eagles fans vented their frustration while speaking to CBS. Most blamed Nick Sirianni for the defeat and urged the Eagles to remove him from his position. A couple even threatened to give up their season tickets because they were tired of the lackluster performance.
Sirianni has to shoulder most of the blame. Sure, the Eagles missed a chunk of their starters: DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, Zack Baun, Lane Johnson, and Saquon Barkley went off injured in the first quarter, but that’s where a head coach earns his money.

Injuries can’t be a get-away card for every poor outing. The San Francisco 49ers played a divisional final last year despite carrying loads of injuries, and they are 4-0 this year. Kyle Shanahan has kept the Niners competitive, unlike Sirianni, who loses his composure in sticky situations.
The Rams outgained the Eagles by over 250 yards. Philly put up just 172 total yards, 12 first downs (fewer than half of the Rams), gave away 10 penalties, and allowed 6 sacks on Hurts. It was a poor performance by a team that became World Champions just two years earlier.
The defeat to the Bears is a classic example of Sirianni capitulating under pressure. Chicago fielded third-choice Case Keenum due to injuries to Caleb Williams and Tyson Bagent.
The 38-year-old completed 24 passes for 247 yards and 3 total touchdowns against the Eagles’ defense. In reply, Philly mustered 7 total points.
Nick Sirianni addresses his decision to go for it on fourth down
The Eagles didn’t look comfortable holding onto the lead. Sirianni’s decision to go for a touchdown instead of kicking a field goal was a clear indication that they were slowly losing their grip.

LA stopped them from extending the lead. Hurts’ intended pass to Cooper was incomplete. The atmosphere inside Lincoln Financial Field spoke volumes about what the fans thought about Sirianni’s play calling. Nick Sirianni explained his decisions through the Eagles reporter Eliot Shorr-Parks.
I wanted to make it a three-score game right there. Fourth-and-2 from the 2, you leave them in a true backed-up scenario. I’m very well aware of how the fourth-down decisions go as the head coach. You go for it and you get it, great. You go for it and you don’t get it, that’s on the head coach. And we didn’t get it, so that’s on me.

It came back to bite them in the worst possible way. In the very next drive, the Rams scored a touchdown through Williams and the running back added another in the final moments.
Next week, the Eagles play the Jacksonville Jaguars. The AFC South franchise defeated the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 4.
