This offseason was supposed to be about Puka Nacua receiving a massive raise from his rookie deal. Instead, it has been all about hiding his face from the public after a series of unwanted controversies.

His attempts at shooting his shot at Hollywood star Sydney Sweeney were not as much of a disaster as some would claim. But biting another woman during a party and anti-semitic remarks would certainly leave a black mark.

The woman then took matters to law enforcement, which is the next step that generally leads to the NFL stepping in to conduct its own investigation.

Nacua probably understood what was at stake and promptly checked himself into a luxury rehab. At the time, fans were concerned about how he looked.

But the 25-year-old has assured his fans that rehab has helped him ‘change his perspective.’ However, it seems his former girlfriend has more to reveal about how ‘abusive’ the father of her child is.

I went from loving somebody so deeply for four years- I felt it in my bones- to experiencing extreme betrayal, abuse, complete neglect from them… A lot of the things that were public affected my mental health. But honestly, the things that were happening in private are what completely crushed me and altered my brain chemistry. Those parts, that people never saw or know of, are what broke me.

This was Puka Nacua’s ex, Hallie Aiono, revealing in a now-deleted TikTok video how her relationship with the Rams wideout led her to start seeking help. It seems the mental abuse was enough for her not just to walk out of his life, but also to seek guidance to fix hers.

NFL reviewing allegations against Puka Nacua

Hallie Aiono might have deleted the video, but the allegations she brought are now well-documented across the internet. That will pile on Puka Nacua when the league reviews the players’ recent controversies.

Other matters still remain under the league’s review: Puka Nacua and Alaric Jackson in Los Angeles, Rashod Bateman in Baltimore.

This means that even though the league has been swift to place the likes of Josh Jacobs and others on its Commissioner’s Exempt List, they are still going over all the details regarding the Rams star.

Aiono’s allegations could weigh heavily even if Nacua has completed rehab and claims to have become better. The NFL generally does not let a player slip away unpunished, even if law enforcement decides otherwise.

Therefore, if Puka Nacua is placed on the exemption list, not only will he miss games, but he could also seriously dent his chances of earning a fat contract soon. The Rams have delayed giving him a deal that could make him one of the highest-paid receivers in the league.

If reigning Offensive Player of the Year Jaxon Smith-Njigba could get a $168.6 million extension, there is an increasing possibility that the Rams will hand out at least a $150 deal to their best receiver. But for now, it will have to wait.

Puka Nacua is integral to Rams’ Super Bowl attack

The Los Angeles Rams have been in the news after trading Myles Garrett and luring back franchise superstar Aaron Donald out of retirement. Now, they have a defense capable of wreaking havoc across the league.

But to win the Super Bowl, they need the offense humming as well. For that, Nacua’s availability is paramount. Davante Adams may be an otherworldly receiver, but in this league, one superstar wideout is not enough.

Matthew Stafford will need his young two-time Pro Bowler pass catcher ready and playing to his best from Game 1. Any slip-ups, and the team could struggle to gain home-field advantage, which again will be crucial in the playoffs.
