Daniel Evans vs Adrian Mannarino : Preview
Daniel Evans finally ends his streak of 3 years, losing in the first round of the Queen’s Club Championships. Evans reaches the 2nd round for the first time in 7 years and will be aiming for his 2nd quarter-final appearance at the tournament with a win in the 2nd round.
Evans who was playing against Australian youngster Alexei Popyrin, defeated the World No. 67, 6-4, 6-4 in just under the 1.5 hour mark as he advances into the 2nd round.
Adrian Mannarino continues his good run at the Queen’s Club as he reaches the 2nd round for the 5th time. Playing against wildcard entrant, Liam Broady, Mannarino defeated the Brit, 6-4, 6-4 in just over 1.5 hours.
The victory takes the Frenchman to a tournament record of 13-8 as he advances into the 2nd round chasing his maiden title at the tournament after reaching the quarter-finals on two occasions, once in 2013 and then in 2018.
Daniel Evans vs Adrian Mannarino : Head to Head
This will be the 3rd meeting between the duo and first meeting since 2019. This will also be their 2nd meeting at the Queen’s Club after having met previously in the first round of the 2018 Queen’s Club, with Adrian winning the tie. Evans later levelled the terms in their 1st round meeting at the 2019 US Open which levelled the tie at 1-1.
Daniel Evans vs Adrian Mannarino : Prediction
Adrian will come into the match with a season record of 6-15 as he lost 7 straight matches on Clay and is searching for his 1st victory on Clay since the start of the 2020 season. With a poor form throughout, his chances of qualifying are a little slimmer than Daniel who is on 15-11 for the season.
However, Mannarino is 74-47 on Grass across his career while Evans is 82-56. Since both players have identical record on Grass, the match can swing either ways with both players having played against each other as well. But given the season form, Daniel Evans will be the favourite for the tie.
Prediction: Daniel Evans to win in 3-sets.
