The Spaniard is all set to play at the ATP World Tour Final at the O2 Arena in London from 15th-22nd November. Rafael Nadal has never been able to lay his hands on the ATP Nitto Finals trophy, though he has managed to reach the finals in 2010 and 2013. The 20 time Grandslam champion has qualified for the tournament 16 times, however he missed the tournaments in 2005, 2008, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018 owing to injuries.

The owner of the Vienna tournament, who is the same person responsible for the ATP Mallorca Open 250 could not convince Nadal to participate at the ATP Erste Bank Open which is set to start from the 26th of October. If Rafael Nadal would have participated at the Vienna Open he would reunite with Novak Djokovic, Dominic Thiem for the first time after the French Open.
