The jubilation of a win is always a sweet thing. The unexpected chance when one goes against the odds, hits differently. Drake London, 23-year-old wide receiver had one of those moments as he finished a pass by Kirk Cousins in the endzone.
London put his hand on the helmet, unable to digest what happened. Then, Chris Lindstrom picked him up in the air where London had a Titanic moment. He finished off the celebration with a machine gun celebration aimed at the sky.
It was almost instantaneous when the referee pulled out a flag, penalizing the Californian for ‘unsportsmanlike conduct.’ The penalty pushed back their kick by 15 yards, meaning Younghoe Koo had to make a 48-yarder to secure a win. Fortunately for London, Koo made no mistake, kicking the ball into the bright yellow goalposts.
Speaking about the incident, Raheem Morris, the Falcons HC had a very made-up take on the situation. He said that he didn’t see it initially but acknowledged that he didn’t mean it for any harm. He also had an excuse for the wide receiver’s behavior, although it seemed a bit implausible.
Drake is a great kid. His intent was not as a use of a weapon. He probably was shooting t-shirts into the stands, to be honest with you, because he’s just that kind of a guy. He was excited. He got excited. He’s one of those guys that plays with great energy. He immediately apologized on sight before I got a chance to correct him.Raheem Morris said to the reporters
Deshaun Watson and David Njoku received fines of $13,659 for mirrored shooting motions almost a year ago. The celebration happened during a Cleveland Browns MNF game against the Pittsburgh Steelers which they eventually lost.
Raheem Morris got drenched in the Falcons locker room
The Falcons didn’t stop celebrations on the field. As soon as HC Morris entered the locker room, the teammates grabbed the water bottles and started pouring them out on him. The entire roster jumped for joy as they reveled in a job well done, screaming and having fun.
There was a special joy bug in the air. Kirk Cousins had his own moment on the sidelines, screaming in elation after the TD drive which led them to the win. There were also visuals of Kirk Cousins sharing an emotional hug and a dap with Terry Fontenot. It was a bit shocking considering the stunt Fontenot pulled with Micheal Penix Jr. Well, It seems like all is forgiven.
