Fame comes with a price of its own, especially when you are considered to be a generational athlete, which is exactly what Patrick Mahomes is. The quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs has established himself as a certified Hall of Famer and is on par to make history as he hopes to win his third straight Super Bowl.

While it is natural that Patrick Mahomes gets a lot of hate towards him from fans of the other 31 NFL teams, his family ends up falling victim to the hate as well. The quarterback’s mother, Randi Mahomes, recently revealed her attitude towards the ‘haters’ who continue to attempt to bring her down by leaving hate comments on her social media posts.

The most natural course of action is to block those who post the comments. Randi admitted on The Mom Game Podcast that she does not think twice before blocking the haters and critics. But there are times when she takes a different approach to these hate comments.

Despite her best attempts to respond to all the comments, Randi admits that she is not willing to waste her energy doing that for everyone.

I've blocked thousands of people on social media, but there are times I look and see so much hate directed at me and my children. Sometimes I respond, saying, 'You have a beautiful family, and I would never say anything ugly about your family without knowing them.' Often, they apologize, but I can't do that for everyone.

Her approach is to occasionally respond to negativity with positivity. Not a bad approach at all.

It works, when she responds with a warm comment, the haters tend to put their anger aside and respond with an apology to her. Randi Mahomes has found a way to turn things around and her one piece of advice to her family is that they should refrain from draining their energy on social media by defending themselves and clapping back at each comment. At this point, she has gotten accustomed to dealing with the negativity.

It is not just her that is subjected to the hate and negativity. Patrick Mahomes’ younger brother Jackson has been trolled on numerous occasions, especially after his run-ins with the law. His sister Mia has also been on the receiving end of the negativity. Randi Mahomes reveals that when people meet them in person, they end up changing their perception of them.

When people meet Mia and Jackson, they love them and realize they're great kids. They're just looking at Patrick on a pedestal and trying to tear everything else down. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

Social media has resulted in fans getting a wrong sense of entitlement, some of them feel that they have the right to go after the kith and kin of the athlete, thereby putting them in the way of fire.
