Randy Orton and The Fiend rivalry is a bad idea

The Fiend and Randy Orton

Randy Orton became 14-time WWE Champion at Hell in a Cell, defeating Drew McIntyre. Orton is tied with Triple H for the second most reigns as a Champion. Ric Flair and John Cena still have the record, with 16 World title reigns. Orton defeated McIntyre for the first time for the Championship, after unsuccessful attempts at Summerslam and Clash of Champions.
On the Raw episode that aired the night following Hell in a Cell, fans saw The Fiend Bray Wyatt getting involved the rivalry. The Viper was making an appearance on Alexa Bliss’ show on Raw. McIntyre attacked Orton during the segment. McIntyre made it clear that he is coming after the title. But during the same segment, The Fiend made an appearance too. This might hint that we might be getting a triple threat Championship match on the cards.
Orton-Wyatt history

The Fiend coming after Orton is not much surprising. This is due to the fact that The Fiend comes after each wrestler that had wronged Bray Wyatt. Years ago, Orton and Wyatt were involved in a feud that ended in a cinematic match. Orton emerged victorious from the match. During their rivalry, Orton even burned Bray Wyatt’s house down!
The Fiend is a problematic Champion for WWE

Now that Orton is a Champion, The Fiend coming after him is not the wisest decision. This is due to the fact that The Fiend Bray Wyatt doesn’t need a Championship to be accepted by the WWE Universe. He is undoubtedly one of the most appreciated characters for WWE in a really long time.
This is not all, a Championship ironically makes the Fiend look weaker. He has had 2 Championship reigns till now. In the first one, he was easily dominated and defeated by Goldberg. His second reign was just a week long, where he lost the title to Roman Reigns.
On the other hand, he has emerged victorious out of every feud that did not involve the Championships. As per reports, WWE is planning to have Orton and Edge battle it out at Wrestlemania for the WWE Championship. If the reports are correct, then it is unlikely that Orton would lose the Championship till Mania. This indicates another loss for The Fiend, making him look weaker.
Orton is scheduled to face Universal Champion Roman Reigns at Survivor Series, in a non-title match. Survivor Series airs live on 22nd November, 2020.
