The 2023 F1 season will be Yuki Tsunoda’s third consecutive year in Formula 1. The Japanese driver joined AlphaTauri in 2021 wherein he was partnered up with Pierre Gasly. The road to F1 was not an easy one for Yuki but he went on to showcase why he deserved a seat on the grid. Yuki went from racing in Japanese F4 to competing in the pinnacle of motorsport in just three years.
Yuki Tsunoda had made a name for himself in his first two years in F1 following his constant swearing on the radio. Apart from that, his crashes were also the talk of the paddock. However, this year seems to be vastly different. AlphaTauri team boss Franz Tost thinks that the Japanese driver has taken a step forward this season. His performances have improved a lot since then.
This year’s AlphaTauri AT04 has gone on to not fulfil the expectations of the squad along with the drivers. Apart from that, Nyck De Vries joined the squad this year. With two fairly inexperienced players in the team this season, it has been a bit rough. However, while things haven’t gone their way, the upside is Yuki Tsunoda single handedly carrying the team forward.

Franz Tost talks states that Red Bull is aware of Yuki Tsunoda’s calibre
In an interview, here is what the team boss had to say. “Yuki doesn’t need good words. He is fast, and he has done a fantastic job over the last two years. And if he continues like this, meaning that he improves race by race, that he shows the performance, then Red Bull will discuss it,” he said. “And I think that he is [driving] in a good way, but the rest we will see. He, for sure, needs another year [before Red Bull consideration],” he continued.
Yuki Tsunoda has two points to his name in the 2023 F1 season. Whilst Nyck De Vries has not had any luck, his performances are under the radar. However, Yuki’s performances have not gone unnoticed with his consistent performances. The Japanese driver has finished P11 or above in every race that he finished so far. There’s a lot more left in store for the AlphaTauri driver for the future.
