Backstage feeling suggests that The Rock only returned to WWE to make amends for his recent Hollywood debacles: Reports
Internal notion in WWE evinces The Rock's need to turn around his Hollywood career.

The Rock just wrapped up his recent stint with WWE. It saw the 52-year-old plot an in-ring return for the first time in eight years at WrestleMania XL. In an outing that caught many off guard, the wrestler-turned-actor triumphantly joined forces with his cousin, Roman Reigns, to outclass Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins.
Despite roping in a record live gate for The Showcase of the Immortals, there are some in WWE who’re resentful of The Great One. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, there were definitely a few people in WWE who thought that The Rock’s return was meant to replenish his recent Hollywood fiascoes.
To cite a few, NBC dumped Young Rock, deciding not to renew the comedy sitcom for a fourth season. Moreover, the reported DC takeover foul-up by Dwayne Johnson‘s Seven Bucks Productions, coupled with lukewarm box office collections by Black Adam, did plague The Brahma Bull. However, the flip side of the coin says that WWE themselves approached Rocky to come on board and join TKO’s Board of Directors. The rest is history.
The Jumanji actor was originally pegged to battle The Tribal Chief at WrestleMania. However, an unprecedented uproar saw him lose his spot to Cody Rhodes. To fully embrace a side of his that the fans haven’t seen in years, The People’s Champ rechristened his Hollywood Rock gimmick.
As a result, Flex Kavana resorted to profanity in his promos, much to the bogey of WWE’s media rights partners. Despite the insiders trying to hoist a farcical hubbub encompassing Johnson, the latter debunked it. At the end of the day, The Great One’s presence helped WrestleMania 40 become the highest-viewed entertainment spectacle in Peacock’s history.
Was The Rock late for his match at WrestleMania XL?
A few days ago, Dwayne Johnson was accused of showing up late for his match at WrestleMania XL. However, WWE’s Head of Talent Relations, Chris Legentil, dismissed the claim, saying that not only was the 8-time WWE Champion on time, but he also aided the last-minute rehearsals.
The Rock’s business partner, Brian Gewirtz, also corroborated the WWE rep’s statement favoring the legendary wrestler. Gewirtz wished Rock on his 52nd birthday by posting an image of him overseeing The Final Boss’ rehearsals from the gorilla position.
For the unversed, Brian, an SVP at Rock’s Seven Bucks Productions, was Dwayne’s lead representative in the creative process leading into WrestleMania. Not that everything’s in the rearview mirror; the fans eagerly await the Black Adam star’s WWE return.
