It looks like Dominik Mysterio‘s antics with The Judgment Day over the past two years have truly hurt Rey Mysterio. The 27-year-old has terrorized his whole family, and for that, the legendary Luchador hasn’t forgiven him yet. The animosity has reached a point where Rey regrets winning the infamous ladder match against Eddie Guerrero for the custody of his son.
In an interview with BWGS Pod, the LWO member was asked if he had any regrets about winning the custody of his son, Dominik Mysterio. Rey Mysterio stated that if he could go back in time, he wouldn’t have had this match. In fact, he even claimed he would’ve told Eddie to keep him after knowing how “Dirty” Dom turned out.
The 49-year-old legend further talked from a storyline perspective and said Eddie was helping him from the heavens. The two friends were involved in a rivalry that became personal, as young Dominik was involved in it. Ultimately, Rey won the ladder match at SummerSlam 2005, as Vickie Guerrero spoiled Eddie’s plans to gain custody of Dom.
That's a very good question that I have never been asked and now that I think about it... I wouldn't have even had that match. I would have told Eddie, keep him. Keep him. I don't want to risk my body. Because that was brutal. The way Dominik turned out after that.Rey Mysterio via BWGS Pod
The father-son duo handled business at WrestleMania 39, where the 27-year-old ended up losing. A year later, they continued their rivalry at WrestleMania 40, where Rey once again won in a tag team match involving Andrade and Santos Escobar. Needless to say, despite defeating him on two occasions, the Hall of Famer hasn’t forgotten the torture his son has put him through.
Rey Mysterio shared his opinion on working with Andrade and his return
At first, Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee were set to compete against the notorious duo of Santos Escobar and Dominik Mysterio. However, Lee got injured and was later replaced by Andrade. Ahead of their high profile match at the Show of Shows, the Lucha legend had only positive things to say about him.
He spoke on The Wrestling Classic and opened up about how he felt when Andrade returned to WWE. The Ultimate Underdog stated that he was an incredible representative of lucha libre and truly admired his talent. More importantly, Rey revealed that he has the utmost respect for what he does in the ring and even expressed his desire to have him in the LWO.
It’s cool, it’s really cool. I wish we had him on SmackDown. I would love to have him be a part of the LWO. Maybe one day, never say never. But I respect his talent, I respect what he does in the ring. He’s an incredible representative of lucha libre, and I admire him.Rey Mysterio on Andrade via The Wrestling Classic
The 34-year-old star made his return at the 2024 Royal Rumble event and lasted in the men’s match for more than 20 minutes. For a while, there were hints of him joining forces with The Judgment Day. However, fans went wild when he decided to save Rey and the L.W.O. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for him.
