This weekend in Turin means a lot to Rhea Ripley. It’s not just about being one of the four women competing on WWE’s first-ever PLE in Italy. ‘The Eradicator’ revealed the added significance and emotional connection with the country through a social media post.

Rhea Ripley had always wanted to Italy but never got an opportunity prior to going there as a WWE women’s champion. She’s about to live her dream and get to experience the country where her late grandmother and grandfather grew up.

‘Mami’ called her “Nonna,” one of the most important and strongest people in her life. For the unversed, Ripley’s grandma passed away in April 2023. Although that goodbye was extremely difficult for ‘The Eradicator’, she revealed having met her Nonna in February a couple of months ago and said that was the highlight of her year.

Over three years removed from that gut-wrenching loss, the Aussie wrestler is headed to where her beloved grandma grew up. As she said in the post above, going to Italy feels like visiting a home she never had the pleasure to experience. After saying that she misses her nonna every day, Rhea Ripley hoped she made her proud every time she looked down on the former Judgment Day member.

Speaking of the task at hand, the 29-year-old from Adelaide will be looking to put Jade Cargill down once again just like she did at WrestleMania 42. Ripley sent a strong message to Cargill during yesterday’s WWE house show in Liverpool. ‘The Eradicator’ first mocked ‘The Storm’ for not being there and hoped she was preparing for their clash on Sunday.

The woman from the Land Down Under vowed to make it 2-0 against the former AEW TBS Champion in Turin. It must not be forgotten that Cargill pinned Ripley in a 6-woman tag team match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 23.

Cargill has the backing of Michin and B-Fab. The duo could play spoilsport for ‘Mami’ at Clash in Italy, but the latter may be counting on Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss to even up the odds for her should such a situation arise.

Rhea Ripley reveals her “Nonna” went berserk over her taking a chair shot to the head

Rhea Ripley revealed a crazy anecdote about her nonna while appearing on Stephanie McMahon‘s What’s Your Story? podcast. The current women’s champion was talking about yearning to go back in time to have a wholesome conversation with her grandmother. McMahon chimed in to tell Ripley that her nonna would’ve been so proud of her.

The former Judgment Day member then recalled an incident from her 18th birthday. Ripley was wrestling a match for an independent promotion in Australia back then. She was up against her real-life friend Harley Wonderland. Ripley had pitched taking an unprotected chair shot to her head, saying, “I was young and stupid and wanted to fit in with everyone.”

The spot fulfilled its purpose, and the chair broke entirely after Wonderland smashed it on Ripley’s head. It just riled up her nonna, who was ready to jump the barricade and take out her granddaughter’s opponent then and there.

That moment still lives rent-free in Rhea Ripley’s head, and she had a pretty hearty laugh describing the entire turn of events. She would hope to continue smiling after this weekend at Clash in Italy too. However, for that, she must weather the Jade Cargill storm.
