JD McDonagh defeated Axiom in the ongoing WWE Speed Tournament, advancing to the next round. Although his wrestling skills impressed fans, the way he covered his opponent, however, was a little bit suspicious. As such, he credited fellow Judgment Day member Rhea Ripley and revealed that he learned it from her. 

The Irish Ace took to X and shared a picture of him pinning his opponent, Axiom, in a rather weird way. Moreover, he mentioned Rhea Ripley, citing that he learned how to ‘thirst trap’ from her. McDonagh even apologized to the Spanish wrestler for pinning him in an inappropriate way.

Mami was quick to reply to JD McDonagh‘s post and praised him by referring to him as a ‘fast learner’. As for Axiom, although he was eliminated from the tournament, he had something to cheer about. The 26-year-old star, along with his partner Nathan Frazer, defeated The Wolfdogs and became the new NXT Tag Team Champions.

Meanwhile, McDonagh will fight against Ricochet in the next round, who defeated Dragon Lee to advance. On the other side of things, Bronson Reed cruised through the first round by defeating Cedric Alexander in just 70 seconds. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see who becomes the first-ever WWE Speed Champion.

Rhea Ripley recalls early days of her wrestling career

Rhea Ripley recently wrestled in front of her home town in the main event of the Elimination Chamber PLE. She defeated Nia Jax in what was one of the biggest moments of her career. Following the emphatic victory, Mami reflected on her early days of wrestling on Logan Paul‘s podcast.

The 27-year-old star made an appearance on Impaulsive and talked about initially wrestling in her home country. The Eradicator revealed that she started wrestling in front of 100 and sometimes even 50 people at house shows. Ripley further added that she used to get a meat pie or a chocolate bar as a price. 

When I started? I mean we were lucky to get a hundred at times. Specially for like the little house shows we did at the actual gym, there'd be like maybe 50 people. I get paid like a pie or a chocolate bar.

Mami powered through the struggles and has now become one of the best female wrestlers in the world. After defeating The Man at the Show of Shows, it looks like her new challenger is Liv Morgan. The 29-year-old star attacked her with a chair backstage and vowed to take revenge. It will be interesting to see how Ripley reacts on the upcoming episode of Raw.
