For years, Travis Hunter looked up to star NFL cornerback Richard Sherman. He was one of the few players that could back up his trash talk with his game. To his disappointment, the man he once idolized took a jibe at his style of play by dubbing his route running skills as ‘bland.’
Travis Hunter was hurt and he made sure to voice his frustration out at Richard Sherman via Instagram. The Colorado Buffaloes star asked the former Seahawks corner to “stop speaking” about him and allow him to “play football.” However, this was a while ago, and since both of them seem to have buried the hatchet and moved forward.
The dual-position player revealed the conversation he had with Sherman via a YouTube video. During their conversation, Richard Sherman set the record straight with him by clarifying his statements.

His feelings were justified after Sherman’s comments touched a nerve. It is safe to say that Travis Hunter is on the right path and is following in the footsteps of his idols so far.
His defensive prowess was on full display after the Colorado Buffaloes beat Baylor thanks to a clutch defensive play by Hunter. He has quickly turned into one of the most interesting prospects to watch out for in the 2025 NFL Draft. A player of his skillset will thrive in the NFL and just 5 weeks into the college football season, he is being viewed as a Heisman candidate. However, considering the struggles of the Buffaloes as a team, he may not win this award.
