Manchester City have confirmed that their 2 players, Aymeric Laporte and Riyad Mahrez have tested positive for COVID-19. However, neither of them has any symptoms and are self-isolating. The statement read, “Everyone at the club wishes Riyad and Aymeric a speedy recovery ahead of their return to training and the new season.”
The Premier League is set to begin on 12th September. However, City have been given additional break for their European participation. They are due to start their campaign on 21st September against Wolves. Mahrez and Laporte will now go the mandatory quarantine period before returning to training.
Recently, many footballers have tested positive. PSG had six positive cases including Neymar and Keylor Navas. In the Premier League, Paul Pogba and Tanguy Ndombele had tested positive.
Both Mahrez and Laporte were not away with their country for the International break. So how did they contact is a question to answer.
