- Robert Saleh has banned seed oils from the Tennessee Titans facility to promote player health.
- Quarterback Cam Ward has lost 10 pounds since the dietary changes were implemented.
- Saleh signed a five-year contract and aims to build a winning culture after a disappointing 3-14 season.
Robert Saleh remains committed to building a winning culture at the Tennessee Titans. To achieve his goal, Saleh has introduced several changes, including a ban on using seed oil in the daily diet, for the benefit of the Titans players Cam Ward, Amani Hooker, Carnell Tate, and others.
The Titans hired Saleh after the team finished with a 3-14 record during Ward’s rookie year as the starting quarterback. Saleh’s only previous head coaching gig was with the New York Jets.
Saleh signed a five-year contract. The details of his deal are unknown. One of the first changes Saleh made as the Titans’ head coach was to end the use of seed oil in the players’ diet.
One of the first things I think we did here [at the Titans] is get rid of all the seed oils in the building.
Saleh said of the dietary changes at Vanderbilt Health Football Center on May 21
According to a study by Harvard Medical School, seed oil, often referred to as vegetable oil (canola oil, corn oil, and sunflower oil), contains the Omega-6 fatty acids, which can trigger inflammation. It also plays a key role in causing heart disease and other health problems.
So, it basically means that no more McDonald’s for the players while spending time on the club premises. Instead, Saleh has restocked the club’s cafeteria with healthier non-seed oil options for players. And this healthier change would not have been possible without the generosity of owner Amy Adams Strunk.
Miss Amy [Adams Strunk] has allowed us to attack the budget and get the players a better variety. I’ve been in six different [NFL] buildings [in my coaching career], and I’d put this [nutrition] staff up there with the best of them. The product they put out in the cafeteria daily is outstanding.

Tennessee players welcome the dietary changes made by Robert Saleh
Opinions vary on the side effects of consuming food prepared in seed oils, but the players are already experiencing the benefits of cutting down on fried and unhealthy meals. Ward, in particular, lost around 10 pounds since last year by following this method.

Ward initially weighed around 219 pounds when the Titans drafted him first overall in 2025. Now, he’s down by 10.
I’m trying to get a little bit leaner, trying to stay durable for a long season… [I am] watching the amount of protein and carbs I need to put in. Do what’s best for my body.

Ward did not have a great rookie year, but there were signs to prove why he was the first player off the board in last year’s draft. The University of Miami alum threw for 3,169 yards, 15 touchdowns, and seven interceptions in 17 games.
Robert Saleh reacts to playing against the Jets
Saleh spent four seasons (2021-2024) as the head coach of the Jets. The AFC East franchise sacked him after posting a 20-36 record.
In his first official NFL game as the Titans’ head coach, Saleh will welcome his former team to Nissan Stadium in week one of the 2026 season.
I’m appreciative of the Jets and everything I had there. It’s to be expected with the NFL, but I didn’t think anything of it.
Saleh said
Tennessee boasts several former Jets players on their roster, including defensive lineman Jermaine Johnson and John Franklin-Myers, safety Tony Adams, and defensive tackle Solomon Thomas. Regardless of what Saleh says, he has a chip on his shoulder to take down the Jets and start his Titans tenure with a bang.
