Roman Reigns Destroys CM Punk at the Behest of Jey Uso on Raw

CM Punk was playing with fire, and he eventually got burned after Jey Uso talked Roman Reigns into decimating him on this week's Raw.

Roman Reigns got his lick back on CM Punk this week on Raw. ‘The Tribal Chief’ not only blindsided him with a Superman Punch but also speared Punk after Jey Uso yelled “Get him, Joe” at Reigns from ringside. That woke something up in Reigns, who then slammed Punk’s face into the steel ringpost twice before powerbombing him through the commentary table.

‘The OTC’ was fuming, and he clenched a beaten-up Punk to vent it out in his face after all the smack the ‘Best in the World’ had been talking about his family. But Punk was laughing through the pain, saying he wasn’t the one who needed help.

The camera panned to Reigns exiting with a conflicted look on his face to end the show. This was exactly what the fans were expecting from Reigns last Monday as the follow-up to Punk bringing up his deceased father the week before.

Roman Reigns did snap eventually, but it has to be mentioned how Jey Uso played a pivotal role in awakening that fury within his cousin. Last week on Raw, ‘The Yeet Master’ couldn’t understand why Reigns wasn’t dying to obliterate Punk already with how disrespectful it was to mention Reigns’ late father and the Usos’ late uncle, Sika, the way Punk did. Jimmy and Jey had taken a swing at CM Punk on Raw a week before that, for which Reigns appreciated them.

‘The Head of the Table’ also told his family members that they’re free to jump the ‘Second City Saint’ before and after WrestleMania because he’s going to handle Punk that weekend in Las Vegas. The former AEW star addressed that specific ultimatum from his challenger on this week’s Raw by affirming that he’s shaken Reigns to a level that he made a decree to all his cousins about taking Punk out if they see him.

‘The Straight Edge Superstar’ later admitted that Reigns calling him old last Monday did make him snap at the 40-year-old. Punk said he’s not ashamed of being old because if he was, he’d have been covering up his gray whiskers with Just for Men like Reigns does.

Calling age just a number, the Chicagoan asserted that he still feels great, and if Reigns just sees an old man in him, then he has already lost because an old man dropped him last week.

All that talking led to Jey Uso coming out, and he was seething. The younger of The Usos was ready to throw it down with CM Punk before Jimmy Uso walked down that aisle and tried talking some sense into his brother. ‘Big Jim’ asked Jey to leave Punk for Reigns and focus on defending their tag team titles against Logan Paul and Austin Theory next week.

Roman Reigns made his way out soon after that, and he respectfully asked Jimmy to take his brother and leave the ring. It made Punk ask the Usos to hang in there, as their cousin would need their help. That was it when Jey made a beeline to drop Punk but got decked with the microphone to the skull.

Jimmy got involved next, allowing Reigns to ambush Punk with a Superman Punch. Raw GM Adam Pearce quickly intervened with other officials to diffuse the situation. But Jey Uso wasn’t going to let it happen. He screamed at Reigns to batter Punk, which ‘The OTC’ did right on cue as mentioned in the beginning.

Kevin Nash wants to see a clear babyface and heel dynamic between Roman Reigns and CM Punk

Roman Reigns and CM Punk went hard at each other with the verbal jousting for three weeks before things turned physical. Last week, it was Punk dropping Reigns with a punch after being called old that offended him. And this week, Reigns wreaked havoc on Punk as a result of the tensions that were simmering between them of late.

But the crowds haven’t picked their side yet, as both Reigns and Punk are basically tweeners right now. And that’s something Kevin Nash would like to change about their feud. Speaking on his Kliq This podcast, Nash couldn’t find a reason why the fans should start booing Reigns when he’s declared that being a full-time father and husband is the biggest flex any wrestler can have.

The audience wouldn’t dislike that at least. The former nWo member is advocating for either man to turn heel, which doesn’t necessarily need to happen before WrestleMania 42. In fact, ‘The Big Sexy’ believes it could happen after that bell rings and they get to beat each other up in an official capacity. Nash took the example of The Rock vs. “Hollywood” Hulk Hogan taking centerstage at WrestleMania 18.

The match was laid out with ‘The Great One’ as the babyface, but he had to adjust himself accordingly as the ‘bad guy’ for the night, with the erstwhile Skydome in Toronto being pro-Hogan the entire match. ‘The Giant Killa’ likewise wants Roman Reigns and CM Punk to figure out in real time about the babyface and heel dynamics based on how the Las Vegas crowd treats them the moment they start fighting in the ring.
