Denver Nuggets star Russell Westbrook works to give back to his community
Russell Westbrook has a few narratives running along with his name. One is the relentless energy with which he plays on every single possession on the basketball court. Then is his passion for the game, as is evident with him taking a bench role with the Los Angeles Clippers. Now he is set to do the same with the Denver Nuggets. But with time in hand, he worked on another one of his passions.
A strong influence in his community, the former league MVP is known to give back. This time, as reported by Fox 11 Los Angeles, he chose to nurture the culinary skills of children. He enrolled them to participate in a training course organized by the Little Kitchen Academy, helping them gain some new skills during their formative years.
Russell Westbrook credits his wife and children for bringing this academy to his notice. Once his children enjoyed the classes, the former triple double king had to check it out himself. When he ended up loving what the Little Kitchen Academy, he wanted other children to get a feel for it.
This is just one of his endeavors as he takes advantage of his position as a respected basketball player. Recently, he announced that he was building 180 affordable houses in his hometown of Los Angeles. All that with a bid to give back to the community that had an impact on who he is today.
Russell Westbrook building up for next chapter with Denver Nuggets
Russell Westbrook might have lost a bit of his shooting touch, but he hasn’t lost his desire to win. With the Los Angeles Clippers, he wanted to achieve his goal of winning an NBA title. But once he understood that the team requires a lot more than just superstars to achieve that, he preferred to move elsewhere.
Since the start of the offseason, rumors were suggesting that Nuggets superstars Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray wanted Westbrook up in Colorado. That pushed the front office to set out to get him. A series of trades buyouts later, the former All-Star is now officially a part of the Denver Nuggets.
This might be one of his last stops as he edges closer to retirement. But before he does hang up his shoes, he is soaking it all in. Dancing on the stage with rappers and building houses, the man knows how to live life.
